Nha Trang

Nha Trang is a coastal city on the south central coast of Vietnam, well known for its white sandy beaches, the warm weather and great scuba diving spots. The area attracts a lot of tourists, especially from Russia. There are already direct flights from Moscow  to Nha Trang, even the menus are translated into Russian, the city has a strong tourist orientation and thus high standards of service and quality are maintained. You can even find an icebar in the city Center, where the average temperature is a mild mins 10 degrees 🙂

With warm weather, blue sky and calm sea, everything was set up perfect for a little exploration trip. So i decided to go scuba diving and discover Vietnams marine life.

There are some great dive spots, like the mushroom bay, where coral formations at the edge of the reef are creating beautiful landscapes and are home to many fish and crustaceans.

Dive trips are very cheap in Vietnam! It is one of the cheapest places I have seen so far, but the quality of the equipment is very high.

If you decide to travel between Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh, you can go by so-called open tour bus! It’s very cheap as well, around 15 dollars per person, the buses are all new and in a good condition. Instead of seats, there are beds installed, where you can spend a comfortable night!

When I arrived at Ho Chi Minh, I called one of the green, official Taxis, but another guy suddenly appeared and pulled my suitcase out of the trank of the official taxi. As I tried to get it back, the guy locked me up inside his car and started driving. I told him to stop, but he didn’t react. We drove for a few minutes, when he parked his car in a little, hidden side street. He was very aggressive and wanted me to give him all my money. When he got more and more aggressive i started to kick with my feet against the window of the car, which attracted the attention of some pedestrians. The guy decided to throw me out of his car together with my suitcase and drove away quickly.  I tried to find another taxi, in order to get to my hotel, and suddenly there was this guy again, but this time I could read his car number plate clearly. Yes, this was a very exciting new experience 🙂

Such an awesome little read! I’m off to Vietnam within the next few weeks – was super stoked about the taxi incident! Well done for reacting well, must of been a pretty scary experience! Like we all say.. It’s all part of the adventure!

  3. Such a great difference between the vibrant Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and Hanoi which hopefully is emerging from the drabness I saw by way of comparison when I made my last visit long ago.

    1. Saigon feels like being in a different country if you compare it to Hanoi. When have you been to Vietnam?
